Portfolio
Portfolio is the investor-facing view of the companies that have granted you access. Each company appears as a tearsheet — revenue and ARR, retention, engagement, and unit economics — refreshed nightly.
It is a two-sided feature. The investor requests access; the company decides whether to grant it, sees exactly what granting shares, and can revoke at any time.
Requesting access
From /dashboard/portfolio, click Request access and enter the email address of someone at the company. They receive a link that shows what approving would share, and they choose whether to approve it.
You can send up to ten requests per day per organization. A request expires after seven days; the Pending requests panel below the grid lets you resend it or cancel it.
The recipient does not need an existing Apex account. If they sign up to approve the request, the company becomes an Apex organization at the same time.
What a company shares when it approves
Approving shares business performance across every workspace in the company's organization, updated nightly:
| Group | Metrics |
|---|---|
| Revenue | ARR, MRR, revenue for the selected range, paying customers, ARPA |
| Retention | Net revenue retention, gross revenue retention, logo churn, cohort retention |
| Engagement | DAU, WAU, MAU, stickiness, activation rate |
| Unit economics | LTV, CAC, LTV:CAC, CAC payback, gross margin |
| Marketplace | GMV and take rate, where applicable |
Access is all-or-nothing. There is no partial-metric grant: a company either shares its performance with you or it does not.
Info
Grants made before Portfolio showed business performance are frozen. Those companies still appear in your list with their name, workspace count, and grant date, marked awaiting re-approval — their numbers stay hidden until they approve the current terms. Grants that are not re-approved within 30 days are revoked automatically.
Reading the page
- Hero tiles roll up portfolio ARR, revenue for the selected range, net revenue retention, customers, and monthly active users. Companies that have not reported a snapshot yet are excluded rather than counted as zero, so a company you linked yesterday does not drag the portfolio numbers down.
- The date range is real. Revenue, spend, and GMV are summed from daily rows between the dates you pick, so any custom range answers correctly. ARR, MRR, NRR, MAU, and the other point-in-time figures are read from the most recent snapshot in the range rather than summed.
- Sort and view persist per browser. Grid gives you the full tearsheet; list gives you a scannable table.
- Needs attention filters to companies with at least one at-risk reason.
- Clicking a card opens the full metric breakdown, including the workspaces contributing to each number.
At-risk flags
A company is flagged when one of a small set of transparent rules fires — a sustained revenue decline beyond its own volatility, a drop in monthly active users, net revenue retention below one, or ad spend continuing with no revenue. The reasons are shown verbatim on the card. There is no score and no ranking.
Two deliberate limits:
- Flags are evaluated only over days where every workspace reported. An infrastructure timeout must never reach you as a revenue collapse.
- Net revenue retention cannot be assessed until a company has thirteen months of history. Until then the card says so rather than reading as safe.
The company sees its own flags, in the same words, on its dashboard. Nothing is computed about a company for you that the company cannot see itself.
Missing or partial data
An em dash means Apex does not have the number, never that the number is zero.
- Waiting on first data — the grant is live but no snapshot has run yet. Metrics appear after the next nightly sync.
- N reporting — some of the company's workspaces did not report in the latest sync. The number shown covers only the workspaces that did.
- Awaiting re-approval — the grant predates the current disclosure. See the note above.
Removing a company
The × on a card ends the grant. The company stops sharing immediately. Undoing it takes a fresh request and a fresh approval from them, because the consent they gave was to a relationship you ended.
A company can revoke from its side at any time under Settings → Workspace → Data sharing.
